The Ocean
The ocean is more than just a body of water to me. It is a space where I find deep appreciation and inspiration. It serves as my playground, a constant source of creative energy, and a sanctuary where I reflect and make life's decisions. To me, the ocean embodies the essence of Aloha spirit — the spirit of love, peace, and connection.
Based on the island of Oahu, Hawai'i, I draw my artistic expression from the rhythms of the ocean. Each wave, every shifting tide, and the endless horizon inform my work, allowing me to translate my connection to this powerful natural world into visual art. My creations are a tribute to the ocean and its transformative influence on both my life and my art.
I became interested in machines when I was 15 years old and studied mechanical engineering in high school and college. During this period, I was particularly influenced by Hokusai Katsushika, Giotto di Bondone, Tiziano Vecellio, Raffaello Santi, and Luigi Vanvitelli. From 1992 to 2015, I worked as an engineer for Japan Airlines and started creating wood cutlery and accessories in 2011 and then moved to Hawai'i in 2015.
私にとって海は、単なる水の塊ではありません。深い感謝とインスピレーションを見出す場所であり、創造のエネルギーが湧き出る遊び場であり、人生の決断を静かに振り返るための聖域です。海はアロハスピリット——愛、平和、そして繋がりの精神をそのまま体現した存在だと感じています。
ハワイ・オアフ島を拠点とする私は、海のリズムから芸術表現を引き出しています。一つひとつの波、移ろう潮、そして果てしない水平線が私の作品に語りかけ、この力強い自然との繋がりをビジュアルアートとして表現することを可能にしてくれます。私の作品はすべて、海とその変容する力——私の人生と芸術の両方に与えてくれた影響——へのオマージュです。
15歳の頃から機械に興味を持ち、高校・大学では機械工学を学びました。この時期、葛飾北斎、ジョット・ディ・ボンドーネ、ティツィアーノ・ヴェチェッリオ、ラファエロ・サンティ、そしてルイジ・ヴァンヴィテッリに深く影響を受けました。1992年から2015年まで日本航空のエンジニアとして勤務し、2011年には木製カトラリーとアクセサリーの制作を始め、2015年にハワイへ移住しました。
